What Is Affluent Academy?

Affluent Academy teaches people how to create a social media agency to target small local businesses and get them on as clients. The course was started in the U.K by YouTuber Jordon Platten.

Who Is Its Founder?

Affluent Academy was created by Jordon Platten from Norwich, U.K. He left college at 23 and channeled his attention to marketing.

He was able to make six figures by assisting small local businesses to increase sales. Platten also runs a YouTube channel with more than 170,000 people enjoying his content.

These days, he helps people to setup their own SMMAs.

How Is Affluent Academy Structured?

The course is organized into 12 unique modules; 90 classes in all that teach you about the subject matter in great detail.

The course is structured as shown below.

How Much Does The Course Cost?

The course costs $947, which is not all you have to pay. There are other tools that you will have to pay for a long the way. Once you total up the additional expenses, you are looking at more than $350 every month on top of the cost of the program.

The course offers a refund policy; if you are not happy with how your results are going, there are 30 days, after you start, for you claim back your money. But you can only do so once you have covered at least 5 modules.

Is Affluent Academy A Scam?

No, the course is not a scam. It is all legit. They teach everything aspiring entrepreneurs should know regarding setting up their own social media agency. You will learn how to build an agency, attract clients, and close deals, and market online.

What We Like About This Course

The course is quite comprehensive. The content of the course is very decent. It teaches people how start a thriving digital marketing business and attract paying customers.

Also, the founder is very good at what he does in a market that is full of unscrupulous individuals.

What We Don’t Like About This Course

It’s not prohibitively expensive but not everyone will be able to afford the $947 price tag.

Also, running a SMMA will require you to have much more of a budget because you’ll need to run paid ads for your clients and also run your tools to operate the business.

Also once you start scaling - you'll need to hire people and start paying salaries.

For a SMMA course, it is good, but starting an agency is very difficult. You need to learn how to market online, then learn how to find physical customers then you need to service them and get them results. 3 different pillars you will need to master which most people won’t be able to do. Don’t get me wrong, there are people that run very successful agencies, but it’s like pushing a boulder up a mountain. This business model will also require you to hire staff in order to expand. There is no way you can scale without having more hands on deck to bring in clients, run the marketing and service the clients at the same time.

Affluent Academy Review - Final Thoughts

Unless you have a bigger budget of around $5k to $10k, don’t bother with trying SMMA.

The setup costs are high because you need to not only invest in the course and tools, but also the paid marketing as well.

Getting physical local business owners to be your clients is also a bit of a drag. It’s a hard skill to master and servicing them over the long term is even tougher.

Remember, they are paying YOU to deliver leads to them everyday. If you can’t even master your marketing skills, you are screwed and will lose your clients.

I do feel that if you are to start a business online, it’s important to take into consideration a few things…

  • Profit Margins

  • Scalability

  • Automation

  • Overall Cost

  • Barrier To Entry

There is one business model that beats starting a Social Media Marketing Agency in ALL of these areas.

Affiliate Marketing.

Yes – selling other people’s digital products online.
